Eco Transport Tips!

GETTING’AROUND

Cycling - There is a Taunton Area Cycling Campaign, with the aim of improving cycling for everyone. The Foxglove 11-mile cycle trail circles Taunton.‘On Your Bike’ at Taunton Railway Station will accept old bikes, and service bikes. The group trains and supports those who have suffered social exclusion, those suffering with physical disabilities and mental healthproblems/disorders, ex-service personnel, ex-offenders,homeless and long term unemployed – a real win-win!

Bus routes – maps can be picked up from the Market House in Taunton. Did you know that Somerset has the second lowest number of journeys per head inEngland? While there are reasons to do with the rural nature of the county, the bus serviceitself is far from satisfactory. But of course that’s no reason NOT to use buses when they are available to us.

Walking – see carfreewalks.org – or just google ‘walks’ and your preferred area…..There are walking groups - find a link to the ‘health’ ones locally

Park and Ride – Bridgwater and Taunton both have schemes – and if you have a bus pass, they are free. A good alternative to paying car park charges.
